Opinion. Revolution details needed Nintendo, and SOON.
Nintendo needs to release the floodgates concerning it's upcoming videogame system the Revolution, or risk losing gamers. It's that simple. There hasn't been a time in the past 20 years, when the "Big N" was more maligned. It seems on every messege board I visit, lifelong fans of Nintendo are bailing on the gaming giant in droves. The recent news of Resident Evil5, seems to have been a tidalwave, sweeping away many of the people on the cusp of wether or not to purchase Nintendo's newest console.
Bieng a lifelong Nintendo fan myself(I have always owned other systems, but purchased more games for Nintendo consoles, mainly due to the fact of Nintendo's steller track record of great games) I can honestly say, that I am to the point of not caring about what Nintendo has up it's sleeve. It seems everyday, some great game is announced for the PS3/X-BOX360, and Nintendo is not in the loop. More and more game screens, details on online play, and news in general have made me disinterested.
This may seem like just another fan, selling Nintendo short, but it's not. I know what they have done for the industry, and I know how important they can be, but with that said, Nintendo is selling it's own fans short. It seems that they are Almost encouraging people to seek out, and purchase other systems.
Microsoft is gearing up for the launch of the 360, wich is right around the corner. If Nintendo thinks that the next installment of the Zelda series is going to somehow keep people from buying the next x-box they are sadly mistaken. I understand that the Revolution is slated for next year, launching alongsie the PS3, but mindshare is a very important asset, that cannot be squandered. Once it's lost, it's tough to recover.
All I am asking is that Nintendo release some images, and announce some games for the Revolution. Don't show the controller if it's that important, but at LEAST SHOW YOUR LOYAL FANS SOMETHING. ANYTHING. Otherwise, you risk bieng marginalized in the very industry you helped revive from the ashes of the Atari debacle.
Do something soon Nintendo, or whatever "Revolution" you have planned, may fall on deaf ears.

i for one, agree 100% with you.
I agree wholeheartedly. This is just getting ridiculous. Does Nintendo even care about their fans? It's extremely frustrating.
Actually, I have a pretty good idea of what Nintendo is planning.
They have all their major releases planned for October and November. It seems almost too convenient; to undercut the XBox 360 launch. Zelda, Metroid Prime Hunters, Animal Crossing DS, Mario Kart DS, Fire Emblem, Mario Party 7, etc, are ALL planned in those months.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict Nintendo is going to hit us all out with the Revolution info in the months before the XBox 360 release. September, October, or November (they need to allow enough time to get people excited and telling their friends about the Revolution, but not so much time that the excitement dies down and they just buy an XBox 360).
You know, right before GDC, we were all saying the exact same things. That nintendo was bailing on us, that they didn't care anymore, that they didn't know what they were doing, etc. But after GDC, everyone was happy again. This is just how it is with Nintendo. Really, people at E3 got very excited for Revolution, despite knowing very little about the console. It's safe to say, that like praxis said, when they open the floodgates next month, everyone will totally forget that they were upset and Nintendo, and come rushing back. Most gamers are just too impatient. A sad repercussion of the society we live in.
I'm afraid it has become more likely that REV is gonna be another platform we buy for only great 1st party software and a few exclusives.
Prepare to turn to 360 or PS3 for your third party games again.
Im a long Nintendo Fan. But i must absolutely agree with you. I cant wait longer and thinking about to buy an PS2 or XBox360, because there i know they also will have good games.
I kinda go along with Praxis's comments, in that Nintendo are going to hit us with a serious bombardment of game releases, revolution game announcements, and hopefully the Revolution itself, to steal some of M$ thunder on XBOX360 launch day, and i'm thinking they are learning from their 'mistakes' of old.
When Ocarina of Time was unleashed on N64, we were absolutely blown away, and similarly with Majoras Mask. When Nintendo was announcing they were taking a different path with WindWaker, we hoped for something like what was shown to us in the infamous clip of Link and Ganon shown at Spaceworld, yet some were disappointed when we saw this new direction that Link was taking. While being a stunningly beautiful game to watch and play, we still hoped for the darker, older, more realistic Link, but expected Wind Waker 2.
But ol Nintendo hit us like a steam train when we saw the first clips of the Twilight Princess... damn who expected that... and now it is being tipped as one of the greatest (and most likely will be the greatest) games, to make its way on to our tv screens, even before anyone has played it!! Only the big N could pull off something like that.
So i'm guesstimating that Nintendo has a few more cards to play yet and the greatest prize will go to those loyal gamers that still believe..
nintendo told us they will tell us all details about the revolution at the END OF THIS YEAR not in july or august - is this the end of this year?
so please kiddies stop, this is only making nintendo bad by always say "give me infos" - like a little kid. do other things - nintendo know what they are doing so why not simple wait?
the whole life is about waiting, so why dont you have time yet?
I really agree with you, I won't abandon Nintendo, but I really think they need to make some announcements, you can't get support by releasing vague comments that only your closest followers, who would buy the system anyway, will hear.
